On The Job Training (Week 10)

 10th Week

This week started with a short meeting with Ma’am Llovido and Sir Cedric to check the progress of the CMS. I found a helpful plugin called Post Grid that lets us display articles dynamically on the article pages. It also works with Elementor, making the layout look better and easier to manage. We even added it to the homepage so that every time a new article is posted, the page updates automatically. Since there were no official articles yet, we used test articles to check if the plugin worked and it did.

Later in the week, we received the final articles from the CSSP students and began uploading them. Each division got at least one article so we could test if everything displayed correctly on the homepage. We were also called by Sir Mike to visit the main campus where he shared the plugins he used for the CMS and gave us advice on setting up the scorecard. My teammate added another plugin called PostX to design pages that Elementor can’t edit easily, like the search page. This helped improve the search results layout, making it cleaner and easier to read.

By Friday, we began setting up the scorecard system. We made a GitHub repository and added each other as contributors, just like we did with the old Laravel CMS. We are now using Tailwind and Laravel’s latest version, which already includes a sidebar a very useful for the layout. We're also using Filament to speed up the backend development. Another task we handled this week was designing the program schedule for the meeting at Hotel Lucca. We reused design elements from our tarpaulin to save time. Even on Saturday, we chose to continue working at RDE to catch up on missed days and took advantage of their solar power during a province-wide blackout.
