First Week
Day 1
The first day of our on-the-job training (OJT) was a mix of excitement and nervousness as we stepped into a new environment. We began by meeting our mentors, introducing ourselves, and getting to know them. Shortly after, we attended the orientation where Computer Science (CS) students presented their ongoing project in RDMD—one that we would be assisting with throughout our training.
Following the demonstration, another orientation took place, where we were assigned tasks based on our skills and expertise. This allowed us to see where we could contribute and what we would be learning. Afterward, we took a group photo with the CS students and had a discussion about their system, gaining insights into its development and future improvements.
Day 2
On the second day of our on-the-job training, we started by discussing as a team the best approach to accomplish our assigned tasks. Collaboration was key as we explored different strategies to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
After finalizing our plan, we met with our mentor, who guided us on what documents needed to be digitized. With clear instructions in place, we began the process of digitizing the documents, ensuring everything was properly recorded and organized. To streamline our work, we used Google Sheets, where I was granted access to monitor and update the progress in real time.
Day 3
As our on-the-job training progressed, we continued digitizing documents on the third day, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our work. At the same time, we took the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the structure of the system demonstrated to us by the Computer Science (CS) students.
Day 4
On the fourth day of our on-the-job training, we made significant progress in digitizing documents, thanks to the use of an advanced scanning device. This technology allowed us to process documents more efficiently, reducing the time and effort required compared to manual entry.
At first, we felt a bit anxious, unsure of what to expect. However, as we talked about our roles and the tasks ahead, we realized that this experience would be an opportunity for growth. It wasn’t just about working on a project—it was about learning new skills, meeting new people, and stepping out of our comfort zones. This OJT journey promises new challenges and experiences that will shape us for the future, preparing us for the real-world industry beyond the classroom.
